Evander Holyfield has teased fans over the possibility of a monumental trilogy bout with Mike Tyson.
Holyfield announced in May that he is planning on returning to the ring aged 58, which sparked discussion of a possible trilogy against Tyson.
Since then, Holyfield has been posting his progress on social media as he continues to get in shape before officially getting in the ring.
The American is the only fighter in history to have been the undisputed world champion in two different weight classes, so a return for one of the greatest boxers of all time will undoubtedly excite the sporting world.
In a recent Instagram post, Holyfield asked fans whether he should complete the trilogy against Tyson or fight someone in an exhibition match.
Holyfield would be looking for a sweep against Iron Mike, following his victories in 1996 and 1997.
Their first match in 1996 resulted in a round 11 TKO win for Holyfield, and their controversial rematch in 1997 resulted in Tyson’s disqualification after biting off part of Holyfield’s ear.
There is some unfinished business between the two, and Holyfield’s followers definitely think so.
Many of the comments on the post urge Holyfield to go ahead and get the fight set up.
Other users commented that they want to see Holyfield go up against Lennox Lewis and even Anthony Joshua.
Tyson is already scheduled to make his return to the ring this month, as he takes on Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match on November 28th.
Iron Mike also stated in October that he plans to fight three more times in 2021. Will one of those three be the completion of the Holyfield trilogy? We’re all ‘ear-ger’ to know.
