Leeds United enjoyed a busy summer transfer window.

Following their promotion from the Championship, the Whites took to the market to ensure that they have a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.

Striker Rodrigo arrived from Valencia in the most expensive deal of their summer, while centre-backs Diego Llorente and Robin Koch came in from Real Sociedad and Freiburg respectively.

There were also three wingers brought in: Raphinha, Helder Costa, and Jack Harrison, the latter on loan.

Illan Meslier, the goalkeeper, also arrived permanently from Lorient, as did Joe Gelhardt from Wigan Athletic.

And with the January transfer window looming, it seems that plans are afoot to further strengthen Bielsa’s squad.

Football Insider now reports that there is interest in signing Reading midfielder Michael Olise, who has an £8m release clause in his contract.

Leeds were interested in the summer, but they were unable to strike a deal.

They did not manage to sign a central midfielder as a deal for Michael Cuisance collapsed, and they could reignite their interest in Olise in the January transfer window.

He remains a top target and, with him entering the final 18 months of his contract in January, Leeds could look to strike a deal at the turn of the year.

Olise has played in all nine of Reading’s Championship fixtures this season, scoring twice and registering three assists.

Football Insider report that both Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This would be a clever, cheap deal for Leeds to do.

This season, per WhoScored, he has averaged 1.1 shots per game, 1.2 key passes, and 1.3 dribbles in the Championship.

He also averages 1.2 tackles and 0.9 interceptions, along with a passing accuracy of 84%.

This is a complete midfield player in waiting and he’s only 18.

Having him grow and improve under Bielsa is a mouthwatering prospect; at £8m, Leeds should do everything they can to bring him in.
