Florian Thauvin has already had one crack at the Premier League.

The Marseille winger joined Newcastle United in 2015, ready to make an impression and potentially make the English top-flight his own.

However, he struggled in England, making just 13 top-flight appearances, in which he did not score a goal nor register an assist.

Thauvin returned to Marseille on loan in the 2016/17 season before the move was made permanent in 2018.

And since then, he has rather exploded on the European scene.

In 2018/19, for example, he scored 16 goals and laid on eight assists, though his 19/20 season was ravaged by injury, as he made just two Ligue 1 appearances.

And with his contract expiring at the end of this season, it seems as though he could well be on his way out of the Ligue 1 club, with a free transfer in the offing.

Thauvin already has three goals and five assists to his name this season, in just eight league games, and a potential return to the Premier League could be in the offing.

Sport Witness carries a report from L’Equipe, suggesting that Leicester City are interested in bringing him back to England.

They are not alone, though, with AC Milan and Napoli also monitoring developments.

Marseille have not given up hope of convincing the France international, but they will need to bridge a significant divide if he is to sign on the dotted line.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This is a tasty prospect.

Leicester have been in excellent form thus far this season, beating Leeds United 4-1 on Monday night, with Brendan Rodgers’ men seemingly growing in strength as the season progresses.

Rodgers has a superb track record of improving the players he has, and Thauvin could well be one such beneficiary.

He is a dazzling dribbler, capable of carrying the ball well, creating chances, and scoring them too.

With Cengiz Under only at the club on loan, it could be a case of Thauvin coming in to replace him.

They have similar profiles, and that would be genuinely excellent business from the Foxes.
