What a season it has been so far for Rangers FC.

After nine years of dominance it was expected that Celtic would rule the roost once again as they went in search of their 10th title in a row.

Based on the opening fixtures that couldn't be further than the truth.

Steven Gerrard has built a side that is capable of ending that dominance from the Bhoys as he looks to truly announce Rangers as being back as the best team in Scotland.

So far the Gers have picked up an impressive 35 points from 13 fixtures in the league - a tally which is even more impressive given the fact that they've conceded just three times in those games.

But their attacking exploits can't be underestimated either.

A key part of that has been Kemar Roofe.

The striker moved to Ibrox over the summer but has found a place in the starting XI difficult to come by due to the form of Alfredo Morelos.

Despite this Roofe has scored three goals in nine appearances so far, and according to Gabriel Agbonlahor, he's a player who is perfect for the challenge that faces Gerrard's side this term.

Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor said: “I think it’s a great signing.

“When he left Leeds I was a bit… it wasn’t the right move for him, for me.

“I feel like he’s got the quality to play in the top team, the top two teams in Scotland or play the Premier League – either – because he played really well at Leeds.

“It’s good to see him playing at Rangers now and he’ll be a great player for them.

“I feel this Rangers team is going to push Celtic all the way this season and it’s refreshing, as a neutral, to see a closer title race in Scotland.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

There's no doubting the quality that Kemar Roofe has.

After arriving in the summer it was thought that he could be taking on the role of being the club's star striker with Alfredo Morelos expected to move on.

But that didn't happen.

As a result the former Leeds man has had to be patient and take his opportunities as they arise.

Three goals from nine appearances is very impressive - particularly when four of those appearances came from the bench.

If Rangers are to win the title I feel that Roofe will be a key part of that and so it'll be interesting to see how the season pans out.
