The Last Dance docuseries was a huge hit around the world earlier this year - and now its producers are set to give a WWE Hall of Famer the same treatment.
A ten-part documentary that followed basketball superstar Michael Jordan during his final year with the Chicago Bulls, The Last Dance earned rave reviews for the unique insight that it gave into the mind of a sporting icon.
The team behind the series are now hopeful of repeating the formula with professional wrestling legend "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
According to former WWE ring announcer Lillian Garcia, the promotion recently told her to expect a call regarding the project.
"WWE contacted me and they said the producers from The Last Dance are going to reach out to you," said Garcia, speaking during an interview with Chris Van Vliet. “They want you in their documentary.
"It’s crazy because when I got the message I was literally just watching The Last Dance documentary," Garcia continued. "I said, 'Jake I’m literally watching your documentary right now, this is amazing.' I come to find out that they want to do a documentary for Stone Cold Steve Austin and it’s coming out next year."
A six-time WWE Champion, Austin was the company's top star from 1998 until he was forced to prematurely retire due to neck injuries in 2003.
The 55-year-old was no stranger to controversy during his time with WWE - and was certainly never afraid to speak his mind.
"The Texas Rattlesnake" is one of the biggest personalities in professional wrestling history and will undoubtedly make a fascinating subject for the show.
At this early stage, details on where the series will air are unknown. The WWE Network played host to a similar series following The Undertaker earlier this year, entitled The Last Ride.
Whether this Austin project is destined for a bigger home than the WWE's own streaming platform remains to be seen.
Given the popularity of WWE during Austin's time as an active superstar, it would be no surprise to see interest from other parties in acquiring the rights to the series.
Information is understandably scarce, but this series looks set to be one not to be missed.
