Ruler of the podcast world, UFC commentating great and all-round funny man Joe Rogan, has had his say on the debate of who the GOAT of MMA is, and his choice is hard to argue with.

The recently retired Khabib Nurmagomedov tops the official UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings at this current time and, after his latest victory over Justin Gaethje, he perhaps deserves the top spot.

The Russian remained undefeated in his UFC career and absolutely dominated his opponents, beating the likes of Conor McGregor.

However, is all this enough for the Joe Rogan to claim Khabib as his GOAT of MMA?

No.

Rogan, instead, backs the man who is currently second in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings, none other than the ever-controversial Jon Jones.

It is somewhat easy to overlook Jones after his recent actions, but the former two-time light heavyweight champion is a serious candidate for being the GOAT of MMA.

Jones voluntarily vacated his title, with championship wins over the likes of Daniel Cormier, Alexander Gustafsson and Rampage Jackson as part of his amazing 11 successful title defences.

Jon Jones also remains the youngest ever UFC champion, after he dominated Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua all the way back in 2011 at just 23-years-old.

So, what did Joe Rogan have to say on Jon ‘Bones’ Jones?

Whilst speaking on a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan said:

“That is the argument right, like who is the GOAT?”

“I think if you look at Jon Jones’s early career, Jon Jones wins the title early in his career, in 2011 and from then on has fought more fights as championship fights than any other fights.

"So, he’s the most accomplished for sure. Wins the title, youngest guy to ever win the title in the UFC, beats Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua who’s a legend, then the way he dominates all these other fighters…”

Rogan would then go on to mention Jones’ later career and the way he defeated Daniel Cormier in the pairs first fight:

“Took him down, like who the f–k takes Daniel Cormier down, right? Then you look at the second fight, even though it was ruled a no contest we all know what the f–k happened. He head kicked (Cormier) and stopped him. It was spectacular.”

Whilst Rogan strongly believes that Jones is the GOAT of MMA, there is one man that is more than likely to strongly disagree with him.

That man being Israel Adesanya, who has expressed his desire to fight Jones, taunting him almost on the daily on his social media accounts.

This is a fight we at GiveMeSport would certainly love to see.
