Leeds United are looking like the real deal this term.

Despite losing 4-1 to Leicester City in their last game the Whites have been mightily impressive in the Premier League so far this season.

After spending 16 years in the EFL many expected that it would take a while to adapt to life in the top flight.

Thankfully for supporters, they seem to be doing just fine.

While Marcelo Bielsa is fiercely loyal to the group of players who secured promotion last term, a huge boost has been with the players brought in over the summer.

As well as Robin Koch, another player who has impressed has been Rodrigo who has already established himself as a key player under the Argentine.

While this is undoubtedly good for Leeds, it seems to have had a knock-on effect to Pablo Hernandez.

The veteran midfielder was the main man at Elland Road last term, but according to Yorkshire Evening Post writer Graham Smyth, it seems that he may have been pushed down the pecking order.

Speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast, Smyth said: "Maybe there’s an element of frustration for Pablo (Hernandez) in that Rodrigo has come in and has started to look very good in that number ten role.

“Maybe there’s just a bit of a change in Pablo’s place in the pecking order.

“Last season, he was the player that ran the show in the run-in – he came off the bench, scored important goals, set up important goals.

“He was of huge importance to Leeds, signed that new contract as well; the main man.

“Maybe [he’s] not quite as much the main man in the Premier League so far.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Pablo Hernandez is a class act, that much we already know.

But times are changing at Elland Road.

Leeds United have been battling and scrapping away in the Championship and Hernandez has been a key player in providing the sort of creativity that could get them out of the second tier.

However life in the Premier League is a different game altogether.

There's no doubt that Hernandez still has plenty to offer, but it was inevitable that Marcelo Bielsa would look to upgrade this term.

That was the right thing to do in order to help Leeds in establishing themselves in the top flight.

While this might not be nice for Hernandez and other Leeds players who were so key last term, it's part and parcel of the game.
