Tottenham Hotspur look hungry for success this season.

Last term was a bitter disappointment for supporters as they fell short of expectations over the course of the campaign.

A sixth place finish was decent in the context of the season, but there's no doubt that expectations need to be higher this time around.

Thankfully for supporters things are looking up.

A tally of 14 points from seven games has the club sitting in third position in the league table, while also looking strong in the Europa League.

Credit has to go to every player in the squad, but one players deserves huge plaudits.

Of course we're talking about Harry Kane.

Kane has scored a staggering 12 goals in 13 appearances so far this term, while also adding 10 assists as well.

The latest of his efforts came in the 3-1 victory over Ludogorets - a strike that took him to 200 career goals for the club.

That effort has led many to discuss how likely he is to beat the Tottenham club-record which is held by Jimmy Greaves who scored 266 for the club.

One man who has been watching the striker closely is Glenn Hoddle who backed Kane to reach the milestone, saying: "I think if he stays at the club, I think he could actually catch Jimmy (Greaves).”

This was echoed by Mourinho who added: "The numbers make him a club legend, with what he is achieving in the Premier League and all competitions is great for such a young guy,” Mourinho said on BT Sport.

“Tonight, 45 minutes one goal and one assist. I believe he can. It’s just a matter of time.”

Kane was also quizzed on the goalscoring record but insisted that his focus was solely on helping the team.

He said: "Time goes so quick, it feels like yesterday scoring that first goal for Spurs.

"It is a great achievement to reach 200 goals but for sure I hope there is a few more left so let’s keep them coming.

“(Beating records) is not on my mind, you guys will let me know when I get the next one, but it is hard to take in when you are playing, I think once you finish you take it all in.

“I have got to keep on going, keep winning as a team and we will be alright.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

It almost sees inevitable that Harry Kane will beat the goalscoring record.

Valued at £108m by Transfermarkt, the striker has a strong bond with Tottenham Hotspur and that means that it would be a huge surprise to see him move on.

While he may insist that he's not looking at the record, I find that very hard to believe.

Kane is a ruthless goalscorer is keen to excel and so there's no doubt that he's not looking to meet or exceed Jimmy Greaves' record.

Whether he does that or not remains to be seen, but it would take a brave man to bet against him.
