West Ham United are enjoying a decent season.

After narrowly avoiding relegation to the Championship last term many expected them to struggle this time around.

Thankfully for supporters things are looking up.

A tally of eight points from seven games has taken the Hammers safely into a mid-table position and five points clear of the drop zone.

This position is a decent achievement given the club's limitations in the transfer market.

According to Transfermarkt West Ham had a summer net spend of around £3million, leading to speculation regarding cashflow problems.

David Gold and David Sullivan currently own 85% of the club but rumours have circulated that they may be looking to sell the club after a turbulent few years.

One man who knows the club better than others is @ExWHuEmployee.

While he admits that nothing is imminent the Hammers' expert claims that there are parties interested in purchasing the club.

Speaking on The West Ham Way Podcast, ExWHUEmployee said: "People are saying, ‘What’s happening with the takeover bids?’ Well, there is exactly what I told you was happening at the time, there isn’t a takeover bid at the moment.

“There is interest in the club, but there is no official bid submitted.”

He added: "There [are] interested parties, so there’s an element of truth to what [those who are reporting rumours are] saying.

“But to say that the takeover bid is coming this year… How, realistically, with it being November 4th today, can the takeover bid be completed by the end of December and [us] not to know anything about it at this point?”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

West Ham United are at a real crossroads right now.

Things did not go to plan last season and as a result they nearly found themselves playing in the Championship.

The second tier is so hard to get out of, so they don't want to risk the same thing happening this season.

David Moyes' side look much more competent this season, but with games coming thick and fast I still expect them to be near the bottom end of the table.

Would a takeover fix things? Quite possibly. If they can get more funds at their disposal then they may be able kick on.

But for this season they are doing the right thing by trying to build a core of players who know the English game.

If they can do that then they'll have a solid foundation to build on.
