The year 2020 has been a strange year for football.

The ongoing global pandemic has stopped the majority of supporters from being able to go and watch their side on a Saturday afternoon.

That is something that we can't wait to see return.

However this year has seen the emergence of one young player as arguably the most exciting young talent in the world.

Erling-Braut Haaland had shown glimpses of what he could do for Molde and Red Bull Salzburg before completing a move to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Since then he has established himself as one of the best in world football by scoring a staggering 26 goals in 28 appearances so far.

Dortmund pulled off quite a coup by attracting the Norwegian starlet to Germany, but that won't stop clubs from being interest.

Manchester United were famously contenders to sign him at the start of the year, while Liverpool have since been linked with a move for the 20-year-old.

With Jurgen Klopp's side very much dominating domestic football at the moment, former goalkeeper Paul Robinson has suggested that it's only a matter of time before we see Haaland gracing the Premier League.

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson said: “One day we will see Erling Haaland in the Premier League. Without a shadow of a doubt.

“I would love it to be at Leeds where he grew up watching his Dad play!

“I think Dortmund was a stepping stone before a move to the Premier League. I think we will see him in England and anybody given the opportunity to sign him would take that up.

“He would make himself fit into Liverpool’s starting eleven. A player of his quality and his ability starts wherever he goes but there will be a number of suitors for him.

“Whether it be Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool or any other top six club in the Premier League. If Dortmund where to sell him there would see quite a few takers.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This lad is the real deal.

Erling Braut Haaland is a player who looks set to be a world-beater for many years to come.

The son of former Leeds defender Alf-Inge Haaland, the striker is arguably the best frontman in world football at the moment.

At the age of 20 his potential is frightening.

A move to Liverpool could be appealing in the future, but with Transfermarkt valuing him at £72million he's a player who is going to cost a vast sum.

Given his goalscoring record so far, there's no doubt that he'd be worth every penny for whichever club do get their hands on him next.
