Tottenham Hotspur look like a force to be reckoned with this term.

Last season was a bit of a disaster with matters off the field seemingly affecting results on it.

Jose Mourinho was brought in midway through the season and managed to salvage the campaign by helping the club to a sixth place finish.

While this was a decent outcome in the context of the season, there's no doubt that expectations will be higher this term.

As a result Spurs went big in the transfer market.

Deals to bring in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Gareth Bale, Carlos Vinicius and Joe Rodon were completed, with all players expected to make a big impact over the course of the campaign.

But you can't look past their existing players to lead by example.

Harry Kane is Tottenham's talisman as he appears to get better and better every single year.

His goal against Ludogorets in the Europa League midweek saw him reach a key milestone as he made it 200 goals for Spurs in just 300 appearances - a remarkable achievement.

Kane is arguably one of the best strikers ever to grace the Premier League - but not in the opinion of Darren Bent.

The former Spurs striker was quizzed on the 27-year-old's credentials and came up with the surprise claim that he wouldn't even make it into the top five strikers of the Premier League era.

Talking to talkSPORT, Bent said: "He's certainly got the potential - if he carries on on this path - to be one of the greats.

"I don't think I put him in the top five yet. Longevity has to play a part.

"He's got 149 Premier League goals in 213 games, which is extraordinary. But when you look at the all-round package of what he does, when Wayne Rooney was at his absolute maximum, you can't tell me Kane is better.

"It's only now we're starting to see the full package with Kane. You think about all the positions Rooney got asked to play. He played everywhere.

"You forget how good he was. So to say Harry Kane is the best English centre-forward, I don't think so.

"I'm a big fan of Kane and he's one of those strikers where every time they get the ball around the box you're thinking it's a goal.

"Potentially Kane could be the best but if you're looking at the full package, holding the ball up, bringing others into play, technique... you can't beat Rooney."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Harry Kane is one of the best strikers that the Premier League has ever seen.

In my mind, there's no doubt about that.

To score 200 goals at this stage of his career is absolutely remarkable, and what's even more impressive is that he's only getting better and better.

It would be no surprise if Kane was to beat Alan Shearer's Premier League goalscoring record, and maybe even Wayne Rooney's England record.

He's already in the top five Premier League strikers, in my opinion, and if he carries on like this there's little doubt that he'll be number one.
