Manchester United have had a dismal start to the Premier League season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are currently 15th in England's top tier, having won just two of their opening six games.

They did start their Champions League campaign well, following up a 2-1 victory over PSG in France with a 5-0 mauling of RB Leipzig.

But they were unable to continue their good form in Europe's premier cup competition as they were shocked 2-1 by Istanbul Başakşehir in midweek.

Solskjaer must now be feeling the pressure.

His side could drop down to 17th if they lose to Everton on Saturday afternoon and other results go against them.

Many think that he could be sacked should United fail to win at Goodison Park, including Trevor Sinclair.

“It could be [his last game],” Sinclair said on talkSPORT. “The job he’s got there is huge, and it’s been a huge job for every manager that has followed Sir Alex Ferguson.

“It’s a huge club which demands wins and demands silverware, and it’s not happening at the moment.

“The pressure is on, and I’d like to think Ole is going to pull a rabbit out the hat and get a win for his sake.”

Diego Simeone

But who should replace him if he does leave?

Mauricio Pochettino is the obvious choice. He has Premier League pedigree and is currently a free agent, meaning United will be able to sign him without having to pay any compensation.

Frank Sinclair, however, doesn't think the Argentine is the perfect man for the job.

He thinks that the Red Devils should target Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone instead.

“I’ve always thought Diego Simeone epitomises Manchester United,” said Sinclair on talkSPORT. “That aggression, that playing on the front foot, having the players super fit to play 95/100 minutes of a game…

“Listen, if I was on the board I would be trying to tempt Simeone away from Atletico and LaLiga and bring him in to Old Trafford.”

Diego Simeone and Diego Costa

GIVEMESPORT'S JAMES STROUD SAYS:

Simeone is one of the best managers in the world. He has achieved great things at Atletico during his nine-year spell as manager.

He demands 100% effort from his players and he will undoubtedly be able to get the best out of United's stars.

But I'm not convinced he's the right man.

United managers always play a quick and exciting style of football. That's not what Simeone does.

For the Argentine, defending comes first. His teams are always built around a stout defence with little ambition to score goals. That's not the United way.

He's also one of the best paid managers in the world, meaning he will cost a lot of money to prise him away from Atletico.

For me, if United are to move on from Solskjaer, Pochettino is the man they should be targeting.
