We’ve only just stopped talking about Jordan Pickford’s horror tackle on Virgil van DIjk.

During the Merseyside Derby, Pickford clattered into Van Dijk injuring his ACL. The Dutchman is now likely to miss the rest of the season.

Pickford was dropped for last week’s defeat to Newcastle but was brought back in for the visit of Manchester United.

How would he respond?

Well, he saw his Everton side go 1-0 up thanks to Bernard’s strike but couldn’t do anything about Bruno Fernandes’ brace.

However, everyone was talking about Pickford once again in the second half.

He dropped a free-kick at the feet of Harry Maguire and responding by booting the United captain.

He was very fortunate VAR didn’t interfere and award a penalty against him.

Take a look:

VAR for the day, Michael Oliver, checked for a penalty but decided not to give it.

Pickford can consider himself very fortunate once again.

Earlier in the day, fellow goalkeeper Ederson defended Pickford for his tackle on Van Dijk insisting he didn't mean to injure the Liverpool defender.

"First and foremost, I don't think any player steps on the pitch looking to injure an opponent," the Manchester City goalkeeper said.

"First and foremost, I don't think any player steps on the pitch looking to injure an opponent.

"I don't think it was Pickford's intention to injure Van Dijk and in the same way I don't think it was Mane's intention to do that when he clashed with me in our game a few years ago.

"You have such a short time to make a decision and it could happen to any of us."
