Manchester United could not afford another slip-up against Everton after back-to-back defeats.

Fortunately, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continued his trend of pulling results out of the bag when he appears on the very brink of losing his job, as his side delivered a 3-1 victory over the faltering Toffees.

It wasn't a great start for United, however, with Bernard opening the scoring following some weak defending from Victor Lindelof.

Things didn't get off to an ideal start for Anthony Martial, either.

Ahead of KO, players from both sides followed the usual routine of taking the knee upon the referee's whistle to support the Black Lives Matter campaign.

But the United forward was so focused on getting the game underway that he simply sprinted off from the halfway line.

Martial's honest mistake

Martial isn't the first to make an honest mistake and forget the gesture - Liverpool's Sadio Mane did the same ahead of the Merseyside derby in June.

It still brought a smile to fans on social media.

Martial was returning to Premier League action for the first time since being suspended for striking Erik Lamela during Tottenham's 6-1 win at Old Trafford last month.

The Frenchman led the line for 82 minutes before being replaced by Edinson Cavani, with the Uruguayan coming on to score his first goal for United.

Solskjaer had Bruno Fernandes to thank for turning the game around, the playmaker scoring a brace inside seven first-half minutes to save his side from another disaster.

It was vital United went into the international break, which was set to be dominated by Mauricio Pochettino-related headlines, with some momentum.

So it's no wonder Martial was in the zone before kick-off...
