Tottenham Hotspur went top of the Premier League - at least temporarily - with a late win over West Brom.

The Baggies managed to frustrate Jose Mourinho's side over a largely uninspiring 90 minutes at the Hawthorns despite Gareth Bale, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane all starting.

Son wasted the best chance of the first half, taking too long to find his feet in front of goal.

And just as it looked the north Londoners would leave the Midlands disappointed, Kane headed in a perfectly executed cross from Matt Doherty in the 88th minute to grab all three points.

It's the sort of game Spurs need to find a way to win if they're going to be genuine title contenders.

This wasn't a vintage performance by any means, but it did bring another personal milestone for Kane.

Kane's 150th Premier League goal

The England skipper scored his 200th goal for the club against Ludogorets in midweek and on Sunday afternoon, he hit his 150th Premier League goal in just his 218th appearance in the competition.

Only Alan Shearer and Sergio Aguero reached the 150-mark quicker - so let's take a quick glance at the history books for the fastest players to achieve it in Premier League history.

10. Frank Lampard - 520 games

9. Jermain Defoe - 443 games

8. Robbie Fowler - 333 games

7. Wayne Rooney - 330 games

6. Michael Owen - 323 games

5. Andy Cole - 286 games

4. Thierry Henry - 220 games

3. Harry Kane - 218 games

2. Sergio Aguero - 217 games

1. Alan Shearer - 212 games

It's a phenomenal achievement by any measure and Kane has done it in extraordinary time.

He's also now surpassed the tally of Les Ferdinand's, with whom he was tied on 149 league goals.

That puts him joint ninth in the Premier League all-time goalscoring charts.

While the Spurs striker is still 110 off Shearer's record, nobody would bet against him topping the tree by the time his career ends.

Kane is back to his best and on current form, there's a serious argument to be had that the Tottenham talisman is the world's best all-round striker.

At just 27, he still has plenty of time to send more statistics tumbling.
