Diogo Jota or Roberto Firmino? That was the question everyone was asking ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Manchester City. The answer? Both.Jurgen Klopp lined up with Jota, Firmino as well as both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for their trip to the Etihad. It was brave but within minutes of kick-off in Manchester, the Reds looked dangerous.Within seconds of kick-off, Ederson had to come out to clear the danger when Firmino looked to be clear.p1emkd5grt1b9s2blrgj6ov1b8kr.jpgOn a number of other occasions, the champions looked dangerous before they finally made their mark.Mane was brought down in the penalty area by Kyle Walker and, after VAR confirmed the penalty, Salah placed the ball past the Ederson to put the away side 1-0 up.

But it was a lead that didn't last too long. Seventeen minutes to be exact.

Kevin de Bruyne played the ball into Gabriel Jesus and the Brazilian produced a brilliant turn and finish.

But the biggest talking point of the match came just before half time. De Bruyne's cross was blocked by Joe Gomez's arm and, after consulted the VAR monitor, Pawson pointed to the penalty spot.

However, De Bruyne surprisingly dragged his effort wide of the post to spare us weeks of discussion about the ridiculous handball rule.

Nobody expected the Belgian to miss the target from 12 yards but perhaps he did it on purpose because he's a boyhood Liverpool fan...

Okay, that definitely isn't the case but a video has emerged of De Bruyne, as a kid, admitting he supported Liverpool and Michael Owen was his hero.

It certainly got plenty of attention on social media - especially after he was seen chatting to Andy Robertson at full time.

De Bruyne's miss was crucial and the second half, in truth, failed to live up to the entertaining opening 45 minutes.

It leaves City in 11th with 12 points from their opening seven matches, while Liverpool sit third behind Leicester and Tottenham.
