Valentino Lazaro scores Puskas Award contender during Leverkusen 4-3 Gladbach

Valentino Lazaro scored a ridiculous goal for Gladbach

Leverkusen defeated Borussia Mönchengladbach in a seven-goal thriller on Sunday evening.

There were four goals in the opening 45 minutes.

Lars Stindl and Lucas Alario both scored twice as the teams went into the break level at 2-2.

But the home side pulled away in the second half.

Leon Bailly put Leverkusen back in front in the 68th minute and they gave themselves breathing space when Julian Baumgartlinger scored their fourth.

Valentino Lazaro scored a screamer for Gladbach

Gladbach pushed men forward and they managed to bag themselves a consolation goal in the final moments.

And what a goal it was.

Valentino Lazaro was positioned in the box when Patrick Herrmann sent in a cross.

It looked as if the ball was too far behind Lazaro for him to do anything, but he showed some incredible improvisation as he produced a scorpion-kick that flew into the net.

It really was a ridiculous goal and you can watch it below:

Wow. Give that man the Puskas Award already. That is one of the most extraordinary goals I’ve ever seen.

Unfortunately, his effort was in vain as Leverkusen held on to secure a 4-3 victory.

So Lazaro’s incredible goal proved to be in a losing effort. But it’s certainly a goal that he will be talking about for the rest of his life.

Leverkusen remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga after their win. They currently sit in fourth having accumulated 15 points from their opening seven games.

Gladbach, meanwhile, stay on 11 points and fall to seventh.
