The likes of Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins are likely to steal the headlines after Aston Villa’s 3-0 away win over Arsenal but the performance of Matty Cash should not be overlooked.

Cash may well have struggled during last week’s humbling at home to Southampton but was back to his best last night as his side claimed another big Premier League scalp.

Indeed, looking at his WhoScored statistics, the summer signing looked every-inch a top-level full-back.

His three tackles saw him rank joint-second out of anyone who played for either team while his three interceptions were bettered only by Arsenal's Gabriel. Furthermore, not a single player beat his six clearances.

Cash also managed to block a shot and found his mark with 2/3 long balls (66.6%) while also proving fairly dominant in the air, winning three duels off the ground.

Handed an 8/10 by the Birmingham Mail for his outing in the capital, the 23-year-old helped nullify an Arsenal attack containing some seriously big names.

To suggest it was a 'coming of age' performance may do a disservice to some of his other games this season, notably the 7-2 win over Liverpool, but Cash looked to be worth every penny of the reported £14.81m fee it took to bring him to the Midlands.
