Everton are wobbling somewhat.

The Toffees had a superb start to the season, even briefly sitting atop the Premier League table, but they have been brought back down to earth with a bump.

Since their 2-2 draw with Liverpool, they have lost all three of their games, going down 2-0 to Southampton, 2-1 to Newcastle United and 3-1 to Manchester United.

The results have seen the Toffees drop to seventh in the Premier League, five points off first-placed Leicester City.

At the weekend they were somewhat hampered by absences, as Richarlison was suspended, and Bernard took his place, grabbing his chance with both hands despite the club’s defeat.

He scored the opening goal of the game and turned in a performance full of pace and trickery.

And now it appears that Everton could face a fight to keep him in the January transfer window.

Sport Witness carries a report from Il Tempo claiming that AS Roma are still interested in snapping up the Brazilian in January, having been linked with him in the summer too.

There is no mention of whether Bernard would want to make the move, or whether Everton would want to sell, but Roma are ready to try to bring him to Italy.

Bernard, who has scored twice in all competitions this season, is valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

The 28-year-old remains an interesting member of the Everton squad.

As he proved at the weekend, he has an eye for goal, and is excellent at creating openings for both himself and his team-mates.

He is a tricky, clever player and he would undoubtedly thrive in the Italian top-flight.

But one has to wonder whether there would be any wisdom in cashing in for the Toffees.

Ancelotti clearly believes he’s a talent and is using him, albeit sparingly.

If he can keep performing as he did against United, one has to think that he will end up in the starting XI more often than not soon enough.
