Arsenal have been in bizarre form.

Mikel Arteta’s side began their season by winning the Community Shield, beating Liverpool on penalties, and followed that up with a 3-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League.

They then beat West Ham 2-1, lost 3-1 to Liverpool, beat Sheffield United 2-1, and lost to both Manchester City and Leicester by a single goal.

They followed that with a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Manchester United but then, most recently, lost 3-0 to Aston Villa.

To say they are inconsistent would be an understatement of rather large proportions.

And it seems that they are already looking towards the January transfer window to strengthen the squad.

Sport Witness carries a report from Calciomercato claiming that they are among a clutch of clubs eyeing Brazilian attacker Brenner.

The 20-year-old plays his club football for Sao Paulo and has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 15 goals in 25 appearances and also registering three assists.

A centre-forward who can also play on both flanks, he has a €50m release clause (£44.5m) in his contract and is being pursued by a number of clubs.

They report that Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio, Ajax, and PSG are also interested in snapping up the Brazilian, who has been called up by the U20s, the U17s, and the U15s.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

There’s nothing like buying a brilliant young Brazilian.

That will almost certainly set tongues wagging among the Arsenal fanbase and this is a genuinely exceptional player.

This season, he has been in exceptional form, and his versatility will surely appeal to manager Arteta.

They have a good record of buying from Brazil too; the signing of Gabriel Martinelli came about in 2019 and he has gone on to score 10 goals in just 26 games.

This could be another masterstroke.
