Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has found a new club.Despite the majority of football fans thinking the Cameroonian midfielder had retired, the 33-year-old is back in the professional game, reportedly signing for Djibouti club Arta Solar 7."I have signed a two year contract with Arta. This is an opportunity to promote Djibouti football," the ex-Barcelona man posted on Twitter.Song had been a free agent since March after being dismissed by Swiss side FC Sion. He had refused to take a pay-cut at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. But now he's back and his return has bolstered an XI of 'ex-Premier League players you didn't realise were still playing'.

Let's take a look at The Sun's XI...

GK | Brad Jones

Formerly of: Middlesbrough & Liverpool

Now at: Al-Nassr (Saudi Arabia)

The 38-year-old Australian left Liverpool in 2015 and enjoyed a pretty successful spell at Feyenoord after signing for the Dutch side in 2016.

Jones has been with Al-Nassr since 2018, winning the Saudi Professional League in 2018/19 and the Saudi Super Cup in 2019.

CB | Steven Taylor

Formely of: Newcastle

Now at: Odisha (India)

The former Magpies centre-back departed English shores in 2018 after a short spell with Peterborough United, moving to New Zealand outfit Wellington Phoenix.

After two years on the other side of the world, Taylor decided to try a new challenge, signing for Indian Super League side Odisha on a one-year deal back in September.

CB | Martin Skrtel

Formerly of: Liverpool

Now at: Istanbul Basaksehir (Turkey)

Manchester United fans will know all too well about Skrtel's adventures in Turkey after Basaksehir's 2-1 win over the Red Devils in the Champions League.

The Slovakian centre-back has made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish Super Lig side, scoring four goals along the way.

CB | Thomas Vermaelen

Formerly of: Arsenal

Now at: Vissel Kobe (Japan)

Vermaelen left Arsenal for Barcelona back in 2014 and injuries really did hamper his five-year stint with the Spanish giants.

The Belgian signed for Vissel Kobe in 2019, where he currently plays alongside the legendary Andres Iniesta.

RM | Salomon Kalou

Formerly of: Chelsea

Now at: Botafogo (Brazil)

After leaving Chelsea in 2012, Kalou signed for Lille where he scored 34 goals in 80 games. His bright form in France earned him a move to German side Hertha Berlin in 2014.

The Ivorian winger enjoyed fair bit of success out in Germany as well, scoring a further 53 goals in 173 games. Kalou signed for Brazilian side Botafogo on an 18-month contract back in July.

CM | Alex Song

Formerly of: Arsenal

Now at: Arta Solar7 (Djibouti)

He's back! The Cameroonian's career has been a bit of a disaster since leaving Arsenal in 2012. Song never got a look-in at Barcelona and failed to impress during his two loan spells at West Ham.

Failed stints at Rubin Kazan and FC Sion followed after he left Barca on a permanent basis in 2016.

CM | Nigel de Jong

Formerly of: Manchester City

Now at: Al-Shahania (Qatar)

De Jong has lived a journeyman career since leaving City in 2012, playing for AC Milan, LA Galaxy, Mainz, Galatasaray and Al-Ahli.

'The Destroyer' joined Al-Shahania back in the summer of 2019.

CM | Eric Djemba-Djemba

Formerly of: Manchester United

Now at: Vallorbe-Ballaigues (Switzerland)

Arguably Sir Alex Ferguson's worst signing as United manager, Djemba-Djemba is still going strong at the age of 39.

Following spells with the likes of Hapoel Tel Aviv, St Mirren, Channaiyi, Persebaya Bhayangkara and Chateaubriant, the Cameroonian is now out in the Swiss fifth-tier with Vallorbe-Ballaigues.

LM | Nani

Formerly of: Manchester United

Now at: Orlando City (USA)

A player once heralded as the new Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani is now rediscovering some of his best form out in Orlando after a tumultuous few years in European football.

The Portuguese failed to make the grade at the likes of Valencia, Fenerbahce and Lazio, but he's thriving in the US. In his 56 games with Orlando, the 33-year-old has scored 20 goals.

CAM | Maxi Rodriguez

Formerly of: Liverpool

Now at: Newell's Old Boys (Argentina)

Now 39, Rodriguez is in his third spell with Newell's Old Boys after re-signing for the Argentine club in 2019 following a year with Uruguayan side Penarol.

In his 189 appearances for Newell's Old Boys, the versatile winger has scored 64 goals, a more than decent return.

The Jamaican striker may be 41, but he's still playing football with North West Counties League Premier Division side Hanley Town, who are based in Stoke.
