Manchester United have been hoovering up young talent.

The Red Devils have moved for both Marc Jurado and Alvaro Fernandez in recent months.

They were snapped up from the academies of Barcelona and Real Madrid and they have each been implemented into the youth squads at United.

However, it seems that Barcelona are ready to take some degree of revenge on the Premier League club after losing their young talent.

Sport Witness carries a report from Sport claiming that the Spanish club are eyeing a move for a United starlet in the coming months.

That man is central midfielder Arnau Puigmal, who joined United from Espanyol in the 2017/18 season.

The 19-year-old has played for Spain at various youth levels, playing 30 times for the U18s, scoring four goals and registering four assists, and making 19 appearances for the U23s, netting seven times.

He was also on the bench in the Europa League in November of 2019, as the club lost 2-1 to FC Astana.

Puigmal has a contract that expires next summer and Barcelona could subsequently look to snaffle him away, with the club hopeful he will arrive in January.

The teenager is reportedly keen on a return to Spain as he looks to take the next step in his career.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This would sting for United but it’s a price they may have to pay.

When a club attempts to bring in a huge number of young talents – essentially hoarding talent – there are bound to be casualties.

Puigmal is only 19 and this is a player who could well be ready to take the next step as he looks to break into the first-team.

He hasn’t been given that chance at Old Trafford yet; he hasn’t made his debut yet.

So the interest from Barcelona is naturally going to be remarkably attractive for a young Spaniard who actually had the option to move to Barca when he was 16, only to choose United.

It’s time for him to rectify that mistake.
