As if 2020 hasn’t been crazy enough, we woke up to reports on Wednesday that Cristiano Ronaldo could be making a sensational return to Manchester United. The reports were fuelled by broadcaster Christian Martin, who tweeted: “Our sources in Manchester and Portugal confirm that Manchester United tempted Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to the club for next season. The Portuguese analyses it. Juventus would negotiate it if he asks for it.”It naturally led to United fans losing their minds at the prospect of Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford.

But is it actually going to happen?

Well, Juventus are reportedly looking to balance their books and offloading the 35-year-old would certainly do that.

If they can make it work financially, United would surely jump at the chance of bringing Ronaldo home - despite his advancing years.

But what about Ronaldo himself? Would he be up for returning to the Theatre of Dreams?

Well according to the man who broke the initial story, Christian Martin via El Grafico, yes. But it’s not necessarily because he dreams of pulling on the red shirt of United once again but because of Lionel Messi.

Martin claims that Ronaldo is tempted by the move to Man Utd because he believes Messi is going to sign for Manchester City from Barcelona next summer.

It is Ronaldo’s belief that Messi will sign a two or three year contract at the Etihad when his contract at Barca expires at the end of the season. The prospect of rekindling his rivalry in Manchester and the Premier League is incredibly tempting for Ronaldo.

Ronaldo and Messi both in the Premier League and both in Manchester?

MAKE. IT. HAPPEN.
