Former Liverpool star Javier Mascherano says he does not regret leaving Liverpool for Barcelona, and the playmaker claims that he prefers experiencing Champions League glory to being a big fish in a small pond.

“Obviously when you decide to take the decision to go to another club it is a new stage in your life. To come to Barcelona was a risk," Mascherano said, as reported by Talksport.

"I left Liverpool and I do not regret how things have gone as I am in the final of the Champions League."

Mascherano is playing as a central defender for Barcelona, which is not his favoured position, but as a midfielder, where the star played for Liverpool, the 26-year-old is behind Andreas Iniesta, Xavi, Sergio Busquets, and Seydou Keita for a spot on the side.

But the Argentina international has enjoyed winning accolades with the Spanish giants, including the La Liga title this season. And while Barcelona face Manchester United on May 28 in the Champions League final, Liverpool are facing Tottenham on Sunday to fight for a place in the Europa League.
