Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho recently claimed his attacking options were the best he's had in his career following the arrivals of Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius.

With that in mind, suggestions that Christian Eriksen could return from his nightmare spell at Inter Milan seemed somewhat fanciful. Indeed, there are so many attackers on offer in North London as it is, not even Dele Alli can get into the side.

Speaking on The Transfer Window podcast (one minute and forty seconds in) Ian McGarry shared some more detail on the Dane's situation.

'Our information is Jose Mourinho thinks his team has evolved' said the journalist when discussing the idea of Eriksen returning.

Given the attacking signings towards the end of the window, that certainly does appear to be the case. There's also the return to form for Tanguy Ndombele who is enjoying his most sustained run in Spurs' starting XI as a No.10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Creatively, Harry Kane has carried the burden of late.

His Premier League-high tally of eight assists speaks to a player able to drop deep and supply others and the England captain is registering more key passes per game than Eriksen did in his last full season as a Tottenham player (2.3 to 2.1 via WhoScored).

With so many options available and Harry Kane evolving, it's easy why Mourinho has reportedly come to such a conclusion.
