Diogo Jota has wasted no time in making a marked impression since joining Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old arrived at Anfield on the back of an eye-catching season in which he notched 16 goals and provided six assists in all-competitions for Wolves.

His performances in a handful of attacking roles showcased his versatility in the final-third, and that may well have been a key reason behind Liverpool's decision to bring him into the club.

Capable of playing wide and through the middle, Jota is exactly the type of dynamic squad player Jurgen Klopp needed to supplement his deadly front-three.

The Portuguese attacker has received plenty of acclaim for his opening to the campaign, and now Chris Kirkland has joined the eulogisers during an exclusive interview with GIVEMESPORT.

"Listen, what a signing for the amount of money. People looked at him and thought well he's doing well for Wolves can he do it for Liverpool?

"He started off great and that's all you can do. He's given himself a head start now and when you go to new clubs you've got to hit the ground running, particularly at Liverpool because the pressure is so immense compared to other clubs - same as United.

"You've got to hit the ground running and you can't allow a settling in period and he's certainly done that and given us another great option."

Jota

Any lingering doubts over Jota's ability to step up to the standard required at a European behemoth of Liverpool's standing have evaporated in the space of just a few short weeks.

As Kirkland says, Jota has hit the ground running both domestically and in Europe.

A fine strike against Arsenal on his Premier League debut set the tone for the season, and he has since followed that up with another six strikes - including a hat-trick against Atalanta in the Champions League.

That Roberto Firimino's place in the starting XI is being called into questions attests to how smoothly Jota has completed the transition into is new surroundings, as does Klopp's decision to start him against Manchester City last time out.

It's already looking like the Reds have completed a stellar piece of business with the signing of Jota.
