Such is the nature of the beast, Celtic manager Neil Lennon has seen his suitability for the role questioned despite being in with a chance of winning a second successive treble.
A mixed start to the season and a European nightmare forced him to come out and defend his position with Rangers sitting atop the Scottish Premiership.
However, according to Ian McGarry, the Parkhead chief needn't have bothered.
Speaking to Duncan Castles on The Transfer Window podcast (from the 57th minute onwards), McGarry stated that Lennon retains 'the faith and the trust of the chief executive and the board at this moment’ and that 'he will continue in the job' despite a rocky start to the campaign.
Given all he’s achieved across two spells as the Bhoys’ manager, that is barely a surprise.
Indeed, the champions do still have two games in hand on their rivals and Lennon has previously proven capable of winning league titles.
Considering the goldfish bowl nature of representing Celtic which is such a specific job, it does seem wise to stick with a man experienced in such a role.
Whether or not that is the best long-term plan remains to be seen of course but for the task at hand - motivating a group of players to win a tenth league title in a row - Lennon does seem the best available option.
There's still so much football to be played so any drastic decisions would be unwise with Celtic still more than able to catch Rangers at the top of the league.
