Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has tested positive for COVID-19.The Egyptian FA confirmed the news via their official Twitter account on Friday.“Salah was infected with Corona virus,” the tweet reads.“The medical swab conducted on the mission of our first national football team showed that our international player, Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, was infected with the Corona virus, after his test came positive ... although he does not suffer from any symptoms..While the other members of the team were negative.”
Salah is now a doubt for Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures against Leicester City (November 21) and Atalanta (November 25).
That’s presuming he will need to self-isolate for two weeks following his positive test.
Salah. who attended his brother’s wedding party earlier this week, was due to play in Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifies against Togo over the next few days.
The news is yet another blow to Jurgen Klopp, who lost defender Joe Gomez to a serious knee injury earlier this week.
Other players currently on the Reds’ injury list include Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk, Thiago and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
