The bout, which is set to take place on November 28 in Los Angeles, will see the two fighters face off in eight two-minute rounds.It will be the first time ‘Iron Mike’ has stepped into the ring since his retirement in 2005 following a defeat by Kevin McBride.The total combined age of both fighters will be 105, with Tyson and Jones Jr. 54 and 51 years old respectively.And legendary promoter Frank Warren believes that fact is a reason why the fight should not be taking place.He explained: “It’s on BT and I work for BT. For me, I have no interest in it.“By interest I mean I don’t like the idea of guys that age fighting. I know it’s going to be a so-called exhibition match but I have no interest.“They’re obviously doing it for money and I think it’s quite sad they’re doing what they’re doing.
“They should not be doing it, boxing is a young man’s game.”
Californian officials have already stated that the fight will be stopped if either fighter is seriously injured at any time.
And last month, the WBC elected to reduce the round times from three minutes to two, a decision which Jones Jr. believes will work in Tyson’s favour.
Speaking to Joe Rogan shortly after the announcement, he said: “They’ve got me doing eight two-minute rounds now. That’s to his advantage too. Everything’s to his advantage, that’s to his advantage too.”
“At this point, the fans are so excited about it, I wouldn’t want to pull the rug from under the fans… and they (Team Tyson) will try and sue me.
“It’s not really worth it, so I’m going to go in and do these two rounds, but I’m going to have to work a little bit faster than I expected to.”
