Alexandre Lacazette has had a mixed start to the season.

The Frenchman scored in the first three games of the campaign, against Fulham, West Ham United, and Liverpool.

Since then, though, he has drawn a blank in the following four games in the league, with the Gunners winning just one of them, against Manchester United.

Per WhoScored, he is averaging just 1.3 shots per game, meaning he is only ever likely to score once in each outing.

His form, clearly, has played a role in the Gunners’ struggles; they are 11th in the Premier League.

And it now appears that he could well depart the club come next summer.

Lacazette’s current contract expires in 2022, meaning that he could be available for a knock-down fee next summer.

And Sport Witness carries a report from La Razon, claiming that Atletico Madrid are ready to take advantage of that in 2021.

Diego Simeone’s side are said to be keen to snap up the 29-year-old, who was first targeted by Atletico in 2017, before he chose to move to north London from Lyon.

They are keen to bring Lacazette in as a replacement for Diego Costa, and the Gunners star is said to be keen on the idea.

Simeone is said to love the striker, and the striker would be open to making the switch.

He is currently valued at £37.8m by Transfermarkt but that price could plummet next summer as Lacazette enters the final year of his deal.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This isn’t really the worst idea for Arsenal.

He’s 29 and will turn 30 in May.

If Atletico are ready to come in with a big bid, of anything over £20m, then the Gunners should really be considering it.

He has been amongst the goals but he hasn’t scored enough goals to warrant being a proper striker option for manager Mikel Arteta.

Letting him go – he is clearly keen – could well be the best decision for the club.
