Norwegian striker John Carew is ready to commit his future to Stoke City after a successful loan spell at the Britannia Stadium.

The 31-year-old joined the FA Cup finalists on loan from Aston Villa during the January transfer window and has scored twice as Tony Pulis' side cemented their spot in the top half of the Barclays Premier League.

And the forward, frozen out at Villa Park, now wants to make his move to Stoke permanent.

"I haven’t told them yet," said Carew.

"We will speak when the season is over.

"I love the club immensely, but my time there is finished.

"Even before the season started, I felt that soon it would be time to move on. When Houllier came it became even more clear.

"Signing a new contract at Villa was never in my mind, but there will always be a place for Villa and the fans in my heart.

"I want to stay in England and I love it at Stoke."
