After earning praise for his comeback performance against Liverpool, Spurs skipper Ledley King has quickly turned the spotlight on defensive partner Michael Dawson.

The Tottenham Hotspur centre back has been a mainstay this term amidst injury problems at White Hart Lane, and impressed again on Sunday when helping blank the resurgent Reds.

King made his first start for the club in seven months, and admitted that playing alongside an England international colleague helped him get through a potentially tough afternoon at Anfield.

“Michael has been outstanding. He always is when I play alongside him. He’s getting better and better and his game has elevated to new levels," King told the official Spurs website.

“It’s nice to play alongside him. I knew I would get tired during the game, that I would have spells when I would have to dig deep and it’s great to have someone like Michael there alongside you."

The club captain also heaped praise on youngster Danny Rose, who is staking a claim to be a regular next season and appeared assured alongside the older statesman across the Tottenham back line.

“I thought Danny Rose was fantastic at left-back as well, it’s great to have those fresh legs in there! “It was a great team performance to get the three points."
