Chesterfield defender Aaron Downes has signed a new one-year contract with the League Two champions.
The 26-year-old is currently recovering from a second cruciate knee ligament injury and did not play a game for John Sheridan's side during their title winning campaign.
His last appearance came in a 2-1 win at Port Vale on February 9, 2010.
But Downes is hopeful of completing his rehabilitation and being able to join the rest of the squad for pre-season training this summer.
"Having missed a whole season through injury I am really desperate to get back playing football because that is what I enjoy the most," the Australian said.
"I want to thank Chesterfield for being so supportive and standing by me and I am pleased that I don't seem to be too far away from getting back and properly involved again."
