Manchester City are hoping to land Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez, before Manchester United can pounce for the Chilean, report the Daily Star and Click Manchester.

The two Premier League sides have long coveted Sanchez along with Italian giants Inter Milan.

And City and United are set to go head-to-head for the player, dubbed by many South American pundits as the 'new Ronaldo'

United want the Italian side to wait until after the Champions League final to try and striker a deal for the 22-year-old Sanchez, while City want to rush through a deal to prevent United from getting their man.

If City can't sign Sanchez, they are willing to turn to Sergio Aguero, who has said he wants to leave Athletico Madrid this summer.
