Manchester United hero Michael Owen says the stage has been set for the ‘perfect final’ tomorrow, with the two best teams in Europe set to fight it out for the Champions League crown.

“I couldn’t imagine a more perfect final, I mean you’ve got Barcelona, the greatest team of all time and I’ve heard a lot of people saying so, and you wouldn’t really argue with that – in my time anyway,” the striker said.

“But that’s not to say that we won’t beat them – it’s a one off game, it’s in our country, we’re used to playing in Wembley, we’ve got a lot of things in our bag as well.”

Barcelona and Manchester United have both enjoyed stunning seasons, winning their respective league trophies and moving through the quarter and semi finals of the Champions League with relative ease.

While Barcelona are the favourites to take out the final, Manchester United have an experienced Champions League manager, with Sir Alex Ferguson one of three managers in history to be in four European finals, and a squad that just keeps proving the critics wrong with their achievements on the field.

With the enormity of the match setting in for Manchester United players this week, Owen said he can’t wait to be on the Wembley stage tomorrow, and that it will be a definite highlight in his career.

“You live for moments like this, for games like this and it’s been fantastic to have enjoyed the ride this season,” Owen said.

“Prior to the game, you couldn’t think of two better teams, and both teams going in with fantastic form.

“It doesn’t get any bigger, I mean it’s the Champions League final, and it is set up as a fantastic occasion.”
