Manchester United will have the chance to exact some instant revenge on Barcelona, with the two sides set to meet during a pre-season tour of America.

The two clubs are set to do battle on July 28th, two months after the Champions League final at Wembley where Pep Guardiola's side ran out 3-1 winners against the Red Devils.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be expecting his side to be up for the challenge against the Spanish champions at the FedEx Field, with a 91,000 sell out expected to greet the players when they meet in Washington DC.

“I think it has the potential to be the best game on the tour, given the star power on the field and the fact there’s a huge Barcelona contingent in Washington DC," Reds fan and One United USA marketing officer Dave Herman told the official Manchester United website.

“I expect the stadium to be split 50/50, like a cup final. But each game has its own appeal, hence why many people I know are travelling across America to see all five matches."

United will also face New England Revolution, Seattle Sounders, Chicago Fire and the MLS All-Stars during their three week tour, with David Beckham expected to line-up in the penultimate game at the Red Bulls Arena in New York.

"Before the Barcelona game, it’s the MLS All-Star game at the Red Bulls Arena. The atmosphere will be great there, with all the New York Reds attending, and there’s even a possibility of David Beckham playing against United, which could be another highlight."
