Liverpool are ready to renew their interest in Ipswich Town striker Connor Wickham, according to the Metro.

The England Under 21 international broke through into the Tractor Boys first-team this season with nine goals in 41 games, and his potential at just 18 has alerted a number of Premier League heavyweights.

And while Tottenham Hotspur have made their interest known, Liverpool are keen to hit the front in the race to land the £10 million rated Wickham.

The forward has signed two new contract this summer, which will keep him at the club until 2013.

However a clause in his contract reportedly states that if a club meets the Ipswich's evaluation then the player could be sold.

Youth is a known priority at Liverpool, with seven of the England Under 19 squad currently hailing from Anfield.

And Wickham would ably into that criteria, as Liverpool look to build a squad capable to challenge for a Champions League spot.
