Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson is being link with a move to Sunderland, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Republic of Ireland man played a bit part in the club's 19th league title win and could be ready for a move away.

With Wes Brown also expected to depart, Gibson could follow as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to trim his United squad.

Former United defender, and now manager of Sunderland, Steve Bruce is looking for a summer shake up in his squad after a disappointing season where they only assured their Premier League survival with a few weeks of the season remaining.

With United targeting a host of midfielders this summer, namely Jack Rodwell and Luka Modric, Gibson's opportunities next season could further decrease.
