Liverpool have had an offer for goalkeeper Alexander Doni accepted, according to reports.

Sky Sports Italia claim Roma have accepted a bid from Reds boss Kenny Dalglish for the Brazilian stopper, with Liverpool now able to open negotiations with the player over a move to England.

After splitting first team duties with Julio Sergio in the Eternal City last season, the Stadio Olimpico outfit have been tipped to make a move for a new stopper themselves, pending the appointment of a new manager at the club.

Speculation has been mounting that one of the club's keepers would be making an exit, and it appears the 31-year-old former Corinthians star is the one to leave La Maggica.

A 10-cap international, Doni is likely to serve as back-up to Jose Reina at Anfield, with the Spaniard reaffirming his desire to stay at Liverpool only last week.

The Reds have been in the market for a number two keeper for some time now, with Brad Friedel a recent target of the Scottish boss as he looked to bring the American back to Liverpool for a second spell.

After losing out to Spurs in that race, the Liverpool manager appears to have moved quickly in an effort to secure the services of a reliable back-up, and now only personal terms appear to be in the way if these reports are true.
