Liverpool have made their first official signing in the transfer window, agreeing to a deal with England international starlet Jordan Henderson.
Henderson is to undergo a medical today, and will discuss the personal terms of the deal with Kenny Dalglish as the ex-Sunderland man makes his move to Merseyside.
A Sunderland spokesperson announced the news that has been speculated for days, in a reported £20 million fee including a swap deal for Liverpool’s David Ngog.
"A fee has been agreed with Liverpool for Jordan Henderson and he travels to Anfield today with the club's blessing," the spokesperson said.
"Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson.
"The 20-year-old will today discuss personal terms and undergo a medical on Merseyside after a fee was agreed between the two clubs."
The signing is a signal that Dalglish is moving towards young English players, and Henderson will serve well playing with England international and Liverpool's January signing Andy Carroll.
The move also shows that Liverpool are serious about rebuilding their squad under Dalglish’s reign, with a long term plan to challenge for trophies and achieve the heights of their glory days once more.
