Manchester United, Barcelona and Chelsea have been told that they will need to pay a ‘stunning £30 million fee’ to get their hands on Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Mirror.

Manchester United were said to be have been linked with Sanchez on many occasions throughout the season, and Sir Alex Ferguson was hopeful of landing the 22-year-old as he continues to sign players in the hopes of lowering the average age of the United squad.

Chelsea were representing a big competition for United, though, with Roman Abramovich reportedly putting Sanchez at the top of his transfer wish list. Ferguson was willing to fork out £25 million for the star, and believed it would put Chelsea on the outer, but £30 million is said to be too higher fee for Ferguson’s liking.

Barcelona are also said to be in the mix for Sanchez’s signature, with the star favouring the Spanish giants over Manchester United and Chelsea, but Barca too are facing a struggle to come up with the required money, particularly with speculation rife that they are trying to put together a bid for Cesc Fabregas in excess of £40 million.

While it was reported today that Sanchez had chosen to move to Barcelona, Udinese president Franco Soldati refuted the claims.

“With regards to the statements attributed to be about a supposed transfer of Sanchez to FC Barcelona, I wish to point out these are without foundation,” Soldati told the official club website.

“There is no agreement between Udinese and Barcelona for the sale of this player. It should also be noted no meetings are planned between the two clubs to discuss any such transfer.”
