Newcastle are set to make another signing in the transfer window, with Youhan Cabaye to be a Toon man by the end of the week, according to The Journal.

The Lille midfielder is with the French national team at the moment, but will reportedly head to Newcastle for a medical before signing with the club for £4.8 million.

It is understood that Cabaye will be offered a five year deal, with Pardew deciding that the 25-year-old will be with Newcastle for the long haul.

The deal is the beginning of a very busy summer period for Newcastle, as they look to build a forward line after the departure of Andy Carroll, and deal with the possibilities of skipper Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton exiting the club.

Alan Smith has also been told he is free to find another club, while Newcastle have put in a £1 million bid for Neil Taylor.

Cabaye’s signing shows yet again that Newcastle are tapping into the French market to find talent, with numerous other French targets on Pardew’s wishlist, including Moussa Sow and Gervinho.
