Sebastian Larsson’s move to Arsenal has hit a snag, with Sebastian Larsson considering signing for Sunderland, according to The Times.

Larsson looked set to make a return to former club Arsenal, with the Birmingham midfielder admitting that talks were underway between his management and the Gunners over a possible deal.

"I know there is some kind of interest but I cannot currently say whether something can be done or not,” Larsson told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

“At the moment I do not know how it is going. I know who said that they have shown an interest but the next few days will tell."

Sunderland have been chasing Larsson for a while, and with the star out of contract this summer, the 26-year-old is reportedly wanting to make a move after Birmingham were relegated.

Arsenal looked in pole position to sign Larsson, being able to offer the star Champions League football, and with Arsene Wenger already having an established relationship with Larsson.

Having spent part of his youth career at Arsenal, Larsson seemed the perfect candidate to make a return to the Emirates. But Sunderland are looking to steal the march over Arsenal with the side willing to offer better money and more incentives to the stat.
