Aston Villa winger Ashley Young is having a medical at Manchester United ahead of a £20 million move to the 19-time league champions, according to the Sun.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa Park after a disappointing season under Gerard Houllier.

And despite the attention of Liverpool, United appear to have won the race to capture Young, with the winger turning up to Bridgewater Hospital to undergo a medical.

Since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, and the form of Nani, United have failed to ably fill their wide positions and furthermore are looking for a long-term replacement for Ryan Giggs, who is expected to retire at the end of next season.

Young scored 11 goals last season, including two for his country, his first international goals, as his influence for Fabio Capello's England became greater.

The 25-year-old is expected to become United's second summer signing, after they completed a deal reported to be around £16 million for defender Phil Jones.
