Tottenham Hotspur captain Michael Dawson is braced for a tough season opener against Everton.

The Toffees are provisionally scheduled to travel to White Hart Lane on August 13th, with a trip to Manchester United the following week and the visit of City after that making it a difficult first three games for Harry Redknapp's side.

England international Dawson isn't looking beyond the first challenge at White Hart Lane though, and expects David Moyes' side to make it a touch first afternoon back in the Barclays Premier League.

“They are a good team, everyone knows that and they will look to get off to a better start this time around," Dawson told the official Tottenham Hotspur website.

“Every game in the Premier League is tough. There aren’t many games where you look at it and it’s three points guaranteed.

“There are games where you’ll think ‘hopefully we’ll get three points there’ but there is never a guarantee. Just look at our form against the bottom five teams last season and that says it all. Every game is a challenge."

Spurs begin their pre-season activities in the opening week of July, and the skipper expects complete focus from his teammates on the first game and not the following 'big' clashes against the Manchester sides.

“We’ll be back in July and that’s when we start preparing for Everton. That’s the game we’ll be focusing on."
