Former Exeter winger Jake Thomson has set his sights on a permanent return to Cheltenham.

The 22-year-old spent a month on loan at Whaddon Road from the Grecians towards the end of last season, making five appearances and scoring once for the npower League Two club.

"I have not spoken to (Cheltenham boss) Mark Yates myself, but he has been in contact with my agent and Cheltenham would be my preferred move," Thomson told the Exeter Express & Echo.

"I had wanted to stay at Cheltenham for longer (on loan last season), but I had to go back to Exeter due to finances.

"I am now hoping to get something sorted out soon and Cheltenham would be my preferred option."
