Liverpool could miss out on Monaco striker Park Chu-Young as Lille prepare to launch a bid for the South Korea international.

With Monaco having been relegated from Ligue 1 last season, the Principality club are ready to cash-in on their prize assets, and there are no shortage of admirers for Park.

But, according to talkSPORT, Lille have emerged as frontrunners to sign the 25-year-old, despite Liverpool showing an interest in bringing him to Anfield.

Lille are keen to secure replacements for out going players with Gervinho - a former target for Liverpool - set to join Arsenal, while Eden Hazard has been linked with a move away from the club.

The French champions have already secured the signature of Dimitri Payet - another player previously linked with Liverpool - from Saint-Etienne to increase their attacking potency.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are also on the lookout for more penetrating forward options, with Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing seemingly next in line to move to Anfield.

Blackpool captain Charlie Adam is also reportedly nearing a switch to Liverpool after allegedly handing in another transfer request at Bloomfield Road.
