Manchester City are preparing to make a sensation move for Arsenal's Samir Nasri, amid interest from Manchester United, according to talkSPORT.

The Eastlands side, having missed out on Alexis Sanchez, are preparing a deal worth £180,000 to tempt the Frenchman.

But with United prowling, and Arsenal still holding out for a deal to keep Nasri, City face stiff competition for Nasri.

Arsene Wenger is desperate to retain at least one star name from his midfield, with Cesc Fabregas expected to leave Arsenal for Barcelona.

United, who have already added Ashley Young, David De Gea and Phil Jones to their squad this summer, are looking for a replacement for Paul Scholes after the midfielders retired at the end of the season.

City are looking to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season, and see Nasri, after his superb showings last season for Arsenal, as the way forward.

Arsenal are bracing for a United bid of £20 million but City could well match their offer, and crucially for Roberto Mancini's chances of signing Nasri, offer the French international an increase in wages.
