Manchester United winger Nani believes Chelsea have hired a gem of a manager in Andre Villas-Boas – but says the Red Devils will still be holding the crown jewels next season.

The Barclays Premier League champions expect their London rivals to put up another strong fight for the title next season and Nani says: “Andre Villas-Boas demonstrated his talent at Porto and I wish him well.”

But Nani still believes Sir Alex Ferguson will still have the upper hand over the Blues and their young Portuguese manager, and adds: “I believe United will be superior to Chelsea next season. Having said that, it will be harder to win the title and be champions next season.”

With the arrival at Old Trafford of England winger Ashley Young, Nani accepts that his starting berth is no longer guaranteed. “Next season I need to do everything I can to cement my place in the starting line-up,” he added.

“It’s true that the rumours about interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich forced me to think. But I am at the best club in the world right now. In the future, things are never certain.

“To play in Spain would be a very good experience, but I prefer the Premier League."
