Gael Clichy has defended his decision to switch allegiances by leaving Arsenal and is determined to be a success at Manchester City.

Following his £7million move from the Emirates to Eastlands, the 25-year-old French international is looking forward to a new chapter in his career.

"I believe in life, as well as sport, you have to push yourself towards your objectives," Clichy told The Sun. "My objectives have always been to play for the best team I can and be the best player I can."

Clichy knows that he faces a tough challenge in trying to break into Roberto Mancini's first team, but is relishing the prospect of making the left back berth his own.

"I'm here for all the right reasons. I'm ready for the challenge, I'm ready to prove myself all over again," he continued. "I believe we have a good enough and big enough squad to challenge for all four trophies.

"I can't say we will definitely win [the Barclays Premier League title] this year, but I can say it is definitely coming.

"That's why I believe City is the right club for me now and in the future. I can't wait to get started and I think anything is possible with this team."
